What is the difference between medium roast coffee and dark roast coffee?
The major difference between medium roast coffee and dark roast coffee is how long it’s roasted. Medium is roasted less, meaning that it keeps more of the bean’s natural tasting notes, such as brighter flavors like citrus and nuttiness. Dark roast coffee is roasted longer and can sport smokier or charred flavors. It can be more bitter, as well.Â
Enchanted Embers is carefully roasted to a medium profile to highlight its grapefruit zest, Brazil nut richness, and oak-like finish without overpowering your palette. If you enjoy smooth, complex coffee that isn’t overly smoky or charred, medium roast coffee is often the ideal choice.
How much caffeine is in medium roast coffee?
Despite some misconceptions, the caffeine difference between light, medium and dark roast is minimal. Light roast coffee often contains the most caffeine, because it’s actually more dense than medium or dark roast. Coffee beans dry out as you roast them, so you lose some of that density and weight. According to Peet’s Coffee, a standard 8-ounce cup of coffee contains approximately 95 mg of caffeine.Â
Our Enchanted Embers medium roast blend will deliver the balanced energy that coffee lovers expect while maintaining a smooth, flavorful drinking experience.
How much ground coffee should I use per cup?
Generally, you’ll want to use 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for an 8-ounce cup. If you want a stronger brew that really brings out the citrus, Brazil nut and oak undertones, you can slightly increase the amount of coffee grounds. This means that you’ll get over 20 cups of coffee from our 12-ounce bag of Enchanted Embers. Each cup is under $1!
Do coffee grounds go bad?
Coffee grounds don’t necessarily go bad, but they’ll become stale and lose flavor as they’re exposed to air, moisture, heat and direct sunlight. Luckily, your grounds from Eerie Coffee Company come in a well-sealed bag, but you could also store them in an airtight tupperware container. Freshness matters with our products; otherwise, you won’t get the intended and nuanced medium roast flavor profile.
