What is a medium dark roast coffee?
As you’d expect, a medium dark roast coffee is the bridge between the two levels or roasting. Common flavors that accompany medium dark roasts include nuts like almonds, hazelnut and cashews, along with dark chocolate, caramel and more. A medium dark roast isn’t overly smoky like a pure dark roast, but there will be hints of bitterness and that woodsy aroma. Many will use this kind of roast for their home coffee maker, along with espresso, lattes, and more.
Haunted Harvest is carefully roasted to that medium dark profile to highlight the notes of sweet brown sugar, warm hazelnut, and lightly fruity plum. If you want to get close to a dark roast, but are still avoiding that fully smoked flavor, this is a great option.
How much caffeine is in medium dark roast coffee?
The caffeine difference between light, medium, medium dark, and dark roast is actually minimal. Light roast coffee often contains the most caffeine, because it’s more dense than medium dark roast. Coffee beans dry out as you roast them, so as you roast further, you lose some of that density and weight. According to Peet’s Coffee, a standard 8-ounce cup of coffee contains approximately 95 mg of caffeine.Â
Our Haunted Harvest medium dark roast blend will deliver the balanced energy that coffee connoisseurs expect while giving you a slightly smoky and smooth drinking experience.
How much coffee grounds should I use per cup?
Generally, you’ll want to use 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for an 8-ounce cup. If you want a stronger brew that really brings out the cozy brown sugar sweetness, hazelnut and soft plum notes, you can slightly increase the amount of coffee grounds. This means that you’ll get over 20 cups of coffee from our 12-ounce bag of Enchanted Embers. Each cup is under $1!
Do coffee grounds go bad?
Coffee grounds don’t necessarily go bad, but they’ll lose their flavor as they’re exposed to air, moisture, heat and direct sunlight. When storing coffee grounds for a longer period of time, use an airtight, opaque container. Better yet, try to use the coffee grounds soon after purchase! Freshness matters with our products; otherwise, you won’t get the intended and nuanced medium dark roast flavor profile.
